Cutting Board & Serving Board Care

Your board is handmade from real hardwood and finished with food-safe oils. With simple care, it’ll last for years.

Daily Care

  • Hand wash only using warm water and mild soap

  • Dry immediately with a towel

  • Store upright or flat in a dry area

What NOT to Do

  • ❌ Do not put in the dishwasher

  • ❌ Do not soak in water

  • ❌ Do not leave in the sink

  • ❌ Do not microwave

  • ❌ Avoid extreme heat (hot pans) and long exposure to direct sunlight

Oiling & Maintenance

  • Re-oil when the board looks dry or feels rough

  • For most homes: once every 3–4 weeks

  • Heavy use: once a week
    Use food-grade mineral oil or a cutting board conditioner/wax.

Quick Oil Steps

  1. Apply a thin coat of oil to all sides

  2. Let it soak in for 2–8 hours (or overnight)

  3. Wipe off excess and let it dry

Do you accept returns or exchanges?

Because many items are handmade or made-to-order, returns are not accepted on custom or personalized items.
If there’s an issue with your order (damage in shipping, wrong item, defect, etc.) please contact me within 48 hours of delivery and I’ll make it right

What if my order arrives damaged?

If your item arrives damaged, please email me within 48 hours with photos of:

  • The damaged item
  • The packaging/box
  • The shipping label
    I’ll work with you to replace or resolve the issue quickly.
When will I get my order?

In-stock items usually ship within 24–48 hours.
Made-to-order items typically take 5–10 business days to complete before shipping, depending on the project and current order volume.
Custom projects may take longer. If you need something by a specific date, please include that in your order or request form.

Where are your products manufactured?

Heritage Woodsmith is based in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. Everything is designed and crafted in my shop and shipped directly to you.
